Yesterday, after attending the birthday party, we realised that as much as we love Ian to be the quiet boy that doesn't cause much ruckus with other kids, we thought it was time for him to attend pre-school.
"It'll be great to toughen him, and not let him bully us most of the times instead of bullying other kids" quote daddy.
I agreed with Darren. Ian would play with other kids, but he's very selective. There are some kids he just won't play with. We figured it's time to let him try and "fend" for himself. hehe What a way to put it. During the past few months, I've made numerous enquiries to a few schools that provides pre-school facilities for toddlers and we've sort of decided to let Ian attend daily classes at Vital Years at Desa Sri Hartamas.
Vital Years is a learning center that focus on reading and writing. Which proves to be a good foundation to learning. Essentially, we both think that reading is important.
We had to consider a few factors. Mainly location and time. I work in Mont' Kiara and Ian goes to my mom and my in laws on different days. So, we've decided to let him attend the school in Sri Hartamas. I can send him to school and pick him up during lunch, and Darren will then send him to his mom's on days Ian goes over.
Sounds like a good plan? Definitely to us. Price is also okay, not too steep and doesn't require unnecessary deposits. Most importantly, I'm 5 minutes away. I've arranged for a first trial visit on Friday. He will attend 1.5 hrs instead of the full 2.5 hrs as a trial. If all goes well, he can start pre-school next month.
After church this morning, we brought Ian to his 2nd birthday party for the month at Mutiara Damansara's McDonalds. Ethan celebrated his 5th birthday and we had a good time there. Ian played his first musical chair of course with the help of mummy, and he was going quite well at it, untill the 5th last round. Ethan had a really nice cake, a Thomas & Friends train cake filled with all sorts of candies.
Thanks to the absent minded mummy, we forgot to bring the camera. Would have been great to snap a picture of the cake as well as the kids! Will wait for Vincent to email us some photos.
After Mcdonalds, the adults thought it was time for some coffee, we walked over to Starbucks at Borders, and had a cuppa. Ian had a good time playing with Ethan and Senri, and of course not forgetting dragging Vincent to slide down with him in McDonalds! Really wished I brought my camera that time!
After an hour or so, we headed home, Ian & I had a good afternoon nap and enjoying the coolness of our living room. Yes, dark curtains does help keep the room a little cooler.
I've never woke up early in the morning and felt miserable because of the heat in the mornings. Problem is, we have all the hot air trapped in the house, especially on the upper floor. One can actually feel the change in temperature when walking upstairs. I think next project is to get the funny looking exhaust fan installed. I guess that would help with extracting the hot air from the 1st flr and the rooms won't be warm. Wonder how much that would cost.
Came back from my back treatment at my chiropractor, and started preparing lunch for Ian, when I thought, hmmm today is a perfect day to clear the backlog in my laundry basket. You see, I have two baskets, one for whites, the other for dark. Both of them passed the halfway mark! After I put my first load in the morning before I left, I went to put in my 2nd load. By the time the 2nd load was done in the machine, the first load was dry! Believe it or not. I went on a laundry frenzy and continued with the 3rd. My…. i never felt so good, seeing both baskets cleared up and a load of freshly dried laundry.
With the horrible heat wave, we stayed in most of the day. I bet TNB's gonna love all of us, with almost everyone running their aircond, I bet they're gonna make higher profit this year!
I think it must be the heat, and with the change of temperature (in-out the office) that got me the sniffles and a slight temperature this morning. Saw the doctor and confirmed the slight fever and a viral infection. Along with the early signs of sore throat. Thought I better get a good rest otherwise the whole whatchamacallit "flu" will hit me during the weekend and won't be such a good sign.
Went home and took medication and had a good sleep. Woke up and realised that it had cleared up the nasal passage and felt much better. Still with a slight temp but much better than the first half of the day.
Weather's been really hot. Especially in the afternoons. Better stock up on the Barley and drinks to cool down our body.
Since I can't blog from the Mac at home, I thought I just write my thoughts in wordpad, then transfer everything and upload them on Monday.

Spotted this Restaurant in Sentul.
Yes! After hearing and reading about the reviews about Brokeback Mountain, we finally borrowed the DVD (vowed never to buy!) and watched it over the weekend. We had to wait till the little one was asleep before watching… so close to 11.30pm, we turned down the lights in the room and started the movie. Was still bearable during the first 15 minutes. We were both waiting to see how soon, the sex / kissing scenes would appear, next minute, I know it's morning and I asked Darren, how long was it before he knocked out. HAHA
"Goodness it was my longest 1/2 Hour!", he replied.
I went… I don't know. But after 20+ minutes into the movie, I felt horribly disgusted seeing too men caressing their faces. Was a little too much for me.
Something else that happened in the evening during dinner that made us all laugh… We went to Ying Ker Hakka Cuisine in The Curve. Myself being a "Hakka mui" somehow have this liking for 2 hakka dishes. #1 "Char Yoke" (Braised pork), #2 "Pan Mee". Although I'm not too sure if the 2nd one is a Hakka dish. Anyways, after many times of looking through the menu of Ying Ker, we decided to try it out last night with my parents. We ordered the Braised pork, steam pork with salted vege, fried egg & brinjals. Also, had a few glasses of iced water. After handing over our order slip to the mandarin speaking lady ( I guess she must be a PRC cos of the way she speaks) and she came back to re-confirm with me…
"Scuse me, do you want ICE (she pronounced as "Ace" but sounded like "Ass" to all of us) in your water?" Now…. that got all of us laughing as we had just relate our experience watching Brokeback Mountain to my parents. And me being the mean one… I had her repeat the word Ice a few times, because I really didnt get it the first time. *looking innocently*. So I replied, "Yes ICE only please"
After last night's dinner, I'm still thinking of the braised pork. My mom makes really good ones, only problem is, she makes it "Once-a-year". Now that i found restaurant that serves good enough braised pork, I'll satisfy my cravings there.

I used to think that Ian was a little impatient kid. I'm saying this because he would ask the same question over and over until he gets it. Yeah, he's also become a little dictative, telling me what he wants to wear, or eat, or drink. I normally have to get him all psyched up to wear something new. Other than that, he's a really tollerant boy.
We had a back-to-back engagement on Saturday afternoon, attend Darren's friend's son who turns 1 and dinner with the usual makan-kaki in Sentul.
After getting the present and all ready for the party, we arrived at Darren's friend's and spent about 2 hours there, met up with some of the wive's there and exhanging interesting stories with other mummies. Something I've not done in a while, most of my friends who fall in that category are far away now, so… it was a good opportunity to know what other mummies are doing/feeding their kids. Somehow lucky because most of the kids are in the same age group as Ian. He had a good time playing with other kids and sharing. I feel the most important thing about a kid's behaviour is to have him/her to share with other children.
After dinner at Sentul, we adjourned to Starbucks at The Mall. Good experience, considering the last time I went there, Yaohan Departmental store was still occupying the main tenant area. Now it's taken over by Parkson and Cold Storage at the Supermarket area. Was a good change. Halfway through our coffee, and chit chat, came a European couple with their daughter who seemed like the same age as Ian. After having half of her mummies' drink, she went on down and started to walk around the tables. We were seated next to them, and took up like 3 tables. Ian was also restless after his ice-cream and then they found company. The Little girl Lina (not sure of the correct spelling) was carring a Pound Puppy plush and she dropped it at first… then, we had Ian to pick it up and return to her. After holding it for a while, she went over to Ian, and dropped the plush again at his feet and walked back to where she was… Ian again, picked up the plush and passed it on to her. The same thing went on about 20 times. Finally she held on to the plush,… I found them being cute, so I tried to snap a picture of them. Unfortunately, Ian was too fast, and snatched the camera from me and started snapping pictures of Little Lina. We later found out that she's only 1.5 years! Look how tall she is… then again, we gotta see how "tall" Ian's mummy and daddy is too…. Here he is with his new friend….

Suddenly, the wedding invitations came flowing in like nobody's business. We had two back-to-back invites to the same venue! What a coincident you might think… yeah even buying 4D could never be so accurate! So… we had our first wedding invite for the year at Eastin Hotel, we celebrated the marriage of Darren's high school mate. I could tell Darren had an enjoyable night, there were like 4 tables of old school mates along with their spouses. Was a fun night and Ian lasted out till midnite.

This weekend, another wedding to attend and because they were in the group of friends we hang out with, we helped out in the traditional Tea ceremony session at both the bride's and groom's house then dinner at Eastin Hotel. Was well arranged and food was good too! Unlike the horrible green melon with chicken we had at one of the weddings we attended previously Eeeyuuuck!! Although we didnt drink much, we had good fun catching up with our friends.

Thank goodness we managed to enjoy our meals at both dinners. Expensive you know??
