The week came and gone and boy do I love weekends. Not because I have the privilege of sleeping in (always an early riser, even before Ian) but we managed to get our office line up, chose our preferred number and now, just to get the office running. After getting that done at TMpoint, Ian and I went home and stayed in while Darren went back to work. Ian and I did alot of talking. Now that he can form sentences, he often asks me… Mummy, how much to buy papa's golf club? or how much to buy his red movie car? And when I answer him, he'll go "hah" like as if it'll make a difference to him! HAHA but I just enjoy the alone time just talking to him, as long as he don't get into his whiney moods and demands for this and that.

Sunday was much better, I bought yummy nasi lemak (staple breakfast for most Malaysians) for Darren and I, then we enjoyed some quality time before he had to go back to work. Since Darren had a round of golf in the afternoon, Ian and I followed my parents for lunch, and then to check on the progress of their house which is currently under renovation. Weather was terribly hot and strangely, there was some good breeze from the golf course just across the road, and didnt seem so hot after walking around. Love the big garden, those who know us well enough would know that we NEVER had a garden, only enjoyed the concrete garden which was mainly to park our cars. I'm hinting to my mom to build a sandbox for Ian since he loves playing sand. Might also consider having Ian's 3rd b'day party there.

After our fresh coconut drink and ice cream, we went home and knocked out,  I prepared ourselves a wholesome dinner. Didn't want to have the hassle of thinking what to have for dinner. It's always a headache whenever dinner time comes.

Time breezes by so fast… especially when you're enjoying life.

DSCN0909b.JPGToday's lunchtime was eventful. I managed to catch a glimpse of Ian paddling on his tricycle at my mom's place. Reverse, forward, reverse, forward, then he went really fast around the chairs. Just a little after his 30th month mark, he's able to ride the bike, asks us questions, act blur when we ask him to do stuffs, and do this Huh! Shock face!

Didn't managed to snap any picture of him riding the bike… Will probably do so during the weekend.

His vocabulary has definitely increased, and because of all the hype about American Idol at our house and my mom's, he's knows the Ah..can Idol, and when he sees McPhee performing, "oo… nice girl". My goodness, I'm happy he's attracted to the opposite sex, but do they normally start that young???

He knows his colour really well, because yesterday my mom tried to trick him that purple was blue, because he demanded for "Blue yoghurt" but where in the world to find blue yoghurt? So she took out the purple one. Conversation went on like this…

Ian: mmm Nice yoghurt

Pohpoh: Yes Ian, eat your "blue" yoghurt okay?

Ian: Pohpoh, purple yoghurt.

Pohpoh: No Ian, it's blue (trying not to make him cry so she changes the colour from purple to blue)

Ian: Pohpoh, no! it's purple yoghurt

Grandmother finally rest her case after being corrected twice.

After 1.5 hrs at work, I felt lousy and body wasn't feeling so fine, so I went to see the doc for some medication and she gave me an MC so that I could rest. On the way home, as I was passing one housing estate, came this flow of water from the nearby junction. It was all brownish and every car that passed that road would have gone over the water and splashed a little. Mine did too! After that, a really horrible foul stench started seeping into the car. Anyway, here I was feeling like throwing up, there, the stench was filling the car. Next thing I knew, it was a rubbish truck that contributed to the horrible stench and dirty water!

There is just one thing I cannot understand about Malaysian rubbish trucks. Why can't they collect household refuse and leave the area dry? Each time the truck comes by, it'll leave a horrible rubbish stench and it'll linger throughout the whole day! Imagine how many kagillion bacterias waiting to infect?

I now drive a car, that is nothing lesser than a rubbish truck. It stinks, inside and out. Drove straight to the petrol station near my place and got off the car to buy a car wash.

P.Station assistant: Which car wash? Normal ke or Premium?
Me: What's the difference? Price?
P.Station assistant: Normal RM5, Premium RM7, only difference is Premium washes undercarriage.
Me: PREMIUM please. (I really needed the undercarriage wash!)

Happily went out and into the carwash. So, what does one do while waiting for the carwash to end? I looked around the surroundings and this is what I found! An opened packet of what looks like "nasi lemak"…. Goodness, I had to snap a picture and blog about it! What the hey is a packet of nasi lemak doing in the middle of the car wash?

After the whole ordeal, I drove into my driveway, parked and rest the whole afternoon away…

Was a public holiday and I had to come in for half a day, didn't want to trouble both my parents or in laws, I decided to bring Ian to work. He was a really good boy. Sat next to me and did his colouring for about 1 hour, before he anxiously jumped out of the chair and started walking around.

Here he is, busy at work!

P2010562a.JPGThrough the 2 and a half years, I've seen Ian grow from a little baby to who he is now. He started liking cars and marvels whenever daddy came back with a Motor Trader magazine. He'll be the first to go through the magazine before any of us do. Looks for his favourite cars, currently and has been the Volkswagen Beetle which he calls "car eyes" and daddy's car. Wondering why he calls the Beetle "car eyes"….? In one of my earlier blogs I mentioned that he loved watching Herbie, and at one part where Herbie was still in the junkyard, the headlights blinked. And so, it caught on as "car eyes" from then on.

And just a month ago, he was able to differentiate an Alphard from an Estima, and now he knows Mini Cooper but pronounces it as Mimi Cooper. Kinda cute I must say… especially for a 2 year old to be able to tell these cars apart. He is able to unlock / lock our car doors, start the car (yes, I'm extra careful when he does that), knows which is the brake and accellerator, gear and what nots.

Initially, we were quite worried because he was mostly the silent type, but as kids grow up, they tend to learn faster if we constantly repeat to them. Not in a nagging way but just to refresh their memory.

DSCN0807a.JPGMission is to try potty train him in the next few months. It's gonna be hard because he goes to both grandparent's house on weekdays and I only have full days on the weekends to train him. Sometimes laziness tend to creep into me, and I just sweep off the thought but I know it's gotta be done someday.

Wish me luck!

"Rush home from office at 6pm, get changed, rushed to 1Utama, park the car, get movie tickets, brisk walk to Jack's Place, ordered, ate, shop a little, buy pop-corn combo, watch movie, rush back home, pick Ian from mom".

This is your task and you have 5 hours to accomplish your alone-time with your husband. This message will self-distruct now! *poof*

In three lines, it sort of summed up what we did last night. We went for our long awaited movie at the cinema, had a not-so satisfying dinner… but nevertheless, we enjoyed each other's company. I must say, if it wasn't for Tom Cruise in MI3, I wouldn't have been so keen to watch it. I still think he's got that "charm" to keep you entertained. Okay, I won't give out any spoilers but definitely one to catch this season.

Our dinner report wasn't so great. Especially from the other half. We've been dying to try this restaurant at 1U for the longest time, and after a year or so, we finally made it to the restaurant without any hesitation. Darren proceeded to order his wild mushroom soup & mixed grill. I, on the safe side, stuck to my french onion soup & seafood spaghetti. Yes, I'm not adventurous. Darren's mixed grill came and was not so satisfying. Yeah, we understand when one orders these mixed platter or grill, they normally serve you the worst cut or even worst part of the chicken. But to have a piece of steak that is not even tender enough to be cut with the knife, I think that's really a rip-off.

I would have made a complaint, not to earn a free meal, but just to let them know, but Darren's not the type to make a scene, so I hurriedly took their Suggestion form for their contact and address. I'm definitely going to write a letter to their management / owner in Singapore. I've heard good reviews about this place in Singapore as well as in M'sia, but maybe it just wasn't our day.

Jack's place

After a dose of yummy and fullfilling breakfast at Delicious, I rummaged through my fridge and thawed a few slices of smoked streaky bacon, washed some fresh mushrooms and gourmet sausages that I got from Jusco, and whipped this up for Darren and I. I didnt forget Ian of course, I made some scrambled eggs, a bowl of oats and not forgetting his cup of yoghurt. Left out a few items, like roasted tomatoes and thick slices of wholesome bread, I only had the loaf of normal slices of bread and also, mine wasn't so nicely decorated as the post before.

I was kinda impressed with myself, and used to envy my friends who could cook up a meal in the kitchen, but here I am…. doing quite well, got complimented on the bacon, was crispy enough, eggs had the perfect texture, and mushroom sauteed in olive oil tasted good as well. Guess i really do have part of the hainanese genes in me. Some say and I'm not bragging about it, that hainanese makes good cooks. Don't know how true that is, but judging from my mom and grandmother, I must admit that it's true!… they don't just know how to make chicken rice!

Got invited to yet another kid's birthday party at McDonald's and coffee with the Chin's after the party. Feels good meeting up with Darren's close friends that we only meet once a year, but made it a point to do so more often. Friends are forever… I always believe that.

DSCN0810a.JPGHaha! Not Breakfast at Tiffany's. Since Darren had a game of golf in the morning, I arranged with my sister to have breakfast with us, then to collect our tickets for Grease. She decided to have the Big Breakfast at Delicious. We decided to visit the one at Bangsar Village since we were heading to Midvalley. Thought of sitting alfresco, but…. looking at the sun and at the rate Ian sweats, aircond was still a better option, afterall, we're weren't in some fancy highlands.

DSCN0814a.JPGI ordered the breakfast with bacon & scrambled eggs, Ian finished 3/4 of the eggs for me, and Drey had the sunny side up & sausages. The portion was good. Each breakfast set comes with freshly squeeed orange juice & coffee! It's been a while since I had a good breakfast with drey and had some gossips in between too! Ian made himself a makeshift track for his cars with the sugar packs on his side of the table.

 delicious

Did a little window shop in Bangsar village, although there wasn't much to look at, so we moved on to MidValley and did more walking. Managed to find a few blouses / shirts that caught my eye. Will definitely get them on Monday when Darren and I go for our alone time at 1Utama.

Definitely a good choice of breakfast! Thanks drey!
