This is a long awaited post. I couldn’t get on it earlier because the picture that I wanted to include in this post was in taken using my sister’s camera. Finally she passed me the photo.
See the little flower? Yes, it’s a rose, a hand crafted rose made by Ian at school. Thing is, we seldom do handicraft at home because I’m bad, I’m lazy to clean up. On the Friday before Mother’s Day, I picked him up from school and I got a little surprise. He says “Happy Mother’s Day, I made a flower for you!”
My heart melt, and suddenly the 15 mins of nagging him to just brush his teeth in the morning didn’t matter at all. The teacher mentioned that he painted it himself, and it took them a few days to get it all together, they made it from scratch. flour + water…..
We didn’t do much on Mother’s day, just spent quality time at home.
Thank you God for giving me the strength and knowledge of bringing up my 3 year old son as he is now.
those good old days when you were young, carefree and nothing matters except for exams? No bottles to sterilize, no diapers to buy and wailing babies to pacify.
Kelab Shah Alam Selangor or fondly known as KSAS. We were members since 1986 and we would go to the club every weekend, or rather every evening for our swim training sessions. Yes, everynight, we would do about 50-60 laps of the 50 metres pool, and participate and represent our club in swim meets. Those were the fun days. We had our group of friends, became close buddies until we stopped going there after we outgrew our membership at 18yrs.
Last weekend I had the opportunity to re-visit my old hangout. I had a wedding dinner to attend, and when I saw the venue in the invitation, I got all excited, and so hyped up, I could see and bring my son and hubby to the place where I grew up. Much has changed, but the Minangkabau facade is still the distinct feature of the club and especially the lobby area. I will not say much, and let the pictures speak. Didn’t take much, just a few to remember by…

The lobby of the club and the phonebooth that we used to hang out at.
Ian’s first school trip, to the ostrich farm in Klang. He had a fun day exploring with animals and pets.
Me: How was the ostrich farm Ian?
Ian: Very big! The ostrich are very big and they have One leg. They run very fast too….
Me: *thinking silently* What kinda ostrich farm did the school bring him to? One legged ostrich that runs fast? What other animals did u see?
Ian: I saw rabbits, and I fed them some vegetables so that they will be strong.
Okay, my son has the right concept that vegetables will make one strong. I’ll use this line the next time he refuses his veges.
I took a day off and made my weekend a long one. A whole five-day break. Went up to my mom’s place for breakfast and the afternoon. Ian had a field of a time literally, he was outdoors playing with his play golf set and managed to drag his grandma along. My mom has resisted the game altogether because of the sun, and suddenly, her grandson calls out “Poh Poh can you please play with me”… and she’s on her toes running out playing with him. This is the power of grandkids.
Here are some pictures of them goofing around.

Now u know why Darren won’t get him the real clubs, he doesn’t want me to get concussion when he comes back from work. HAHA
