This is one of my all time favourite Cheese cake recipe. I had this recipe since 1995. Just look at the condition of the paper and see how yellow it has turned. I had to take picture with a white background to show it’s contrasting colours. Anyway, I dug this recipe out because tomorrow we’re having a Pot Luck party at a friends house and I’m tired of packing satay (because it’s convenient and we only eat satay in tens of sticks when we bring over for Pot Luck!!) and I’m quite sure the host is also sick of our satay, so this time, I’m packing some salt baked chicken (yes I’m still packing, I’m pregnant and I’m allowed to!) and will be baking my cheesecake. Come to think of it, I’ve not baked this in the last 5 yrs or so of knowing this new group of friends. So, time to show off my dessert skills :) I just hope it turns out okay. I will update this post with a picture of the cake on Monday.

Wish me luck!

"Rush home from office at 6pm, get changed, rushed to 1Utama, park the car, get movie tickets, brisk walk to Jack's Place, ordered, ate, shop a little, buy pop-corn combo, watch movie, rush back home, pick Ian from mom".

This is your task and you have 5 hours to accomplish your alone-time with your husband. This message will self-distruct now! *poof*

In three lines, it sort of summed up what we did last night. We went for our long awaited movie at the cinema, had a not-so satisfying dinner… but nevertheless, we enjoyed each other's company. I must say, if it wasn't for Tom Cruise in MI3, I wouldn't have been so keen to watch it. I still think he's got that "charm" to keep you entertained. Okay, I won't give out any spoilers but definitely one to catch this season.

Our dinner report wasn't so great. Especially from the other half. We've been dying to try this restaurant at 1U for the longest time, and after a year or so, we finally made it to the restaurant without any hesitation. Darren proceeded to order his wild mushroom soup & mixed grill. I, on the safe side, stuck to my french onion soup & seafood spaghetti. Yes, I'm not adventurous. Darren's mixed grill came and was not so satisfying. Yeah, we understand when one orders these mixed platter or grill, they normally serve you the worst cut or even worst part of the chicken. But to have a piece of steak that is not even tender enough to be cut with the knife, I think that's really a rip-off.

I would have made a complaint, not to earn a free meal, but just to let them know, but Darren's not the type to make a scene, so I hurriedly took their Suggestion form for their contact and address. I'm definitely going to write a letter to their management / owner in Singapore. I've heard good reviews about this place in Singapore as well as in M'sia, but maybe it just wasn't our day.

Jack's place

Yes! After hearing and reading about the reviews about Brokeback Mountain, we finally borrowed the DVD (vowed never to buy!) and watched it over the weekend. We had to wait till the little one was asleep before watching… so close to 11.30pm, we turned down the lights in the room and started the movie. Was still bearable during the first 15 minutes. We were both waiting to see how soon, the sex / kissing scenes would appear, next minute, I know it's morning and I asked Darren, how long was it before he knocked out. HAHA

"Goodness it was my longest 1/2 Hour!", he replied.

I went… I don't know. But after 20+ minutes into the movie, I felt horribly disgusted seeing too men caressing their faces. Was a little too much for me.

Something else that happened in the evening during dinner that made us all laugh… We went to Ying Ker Hakka Cuisine in The Curve. Myself being a "Hakka mui" somehow have this liking for 2 hakka dishes. #1 "Char Yoke" (Braised pork), #2 "Pan Mee". Although I'm not too sure if the 2nd one is a Hakka dish. Anyways, after many times of looking through the menu of Ying Ker, we decided to try it out last night with my parents. We ordered the Braised pork, steam pork with salted vege, fried egg & brinjals. Also, had a few glasses of iced water. After handing over our order slip to the mandarin speaking lady ( I guess she must be a PRC cos of the way she speaks) and she came back to re-confirm with me…

"Scuse me, do you want ICE (she pronounced as "Ace" but sounded like "Ass" to all of us) in your water?" Now…. that got all of us laughing as we had just relate our experience watching Brokeback Mountain to my parents. And me being the mean one… I had her repeat the word Ice a few times, because I really didnt get it the first time. *looking innocently*. So I replied, "Yes ICE only please"

After last night's dinner, I'm still thinking of the braised pork. My mom makes really good ones, only problem is, she makes it "Once-a-year". Now that i found restaurant that serves good enough braised pork, I'll satisfy my cravings there.
